Have questions - we’ve got answers….


DO I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO SWIM?

Yes. We require all surfers to be good swimmers before learning to surf.   You will not be allowed to use flotation devices for your lesson.

DO I NEED A RESERVATION?

Yes, reservations are essential. You can make a reservation by either walking up to our club office, calling us at (808)-944.1966, or booking online. It is also important to note that we accept full payments at time of booking.

DO YOU PICKUP FROM HOTELS?

Unfortunately, we are not equipped to provide hotel pickups but we are situated at a walking distance directly from most Waikiki and Ala Moana hotels.

WHAT TIME DO I NEED TO CHECK IN?

We recommend you to check in 10 minutes before the lesson.

WHAT SHOULD I COME ALONG WITH TO THE LESSONS?

Please bring a towel, sunscreen, drinking water to stay hydrated, and most importantly a huge smile! We will provide you with the rest.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR THE LESSON?

Come already wearing your surf shorts/swim bottoms. We will provide you with a long-sleeved surf jersey. We recommend that you don’t apply any sunscreen at the front of your legs or torso to avoid a slippery surfboard but be sure to apply some at the back of your neck and legs.

WHAT IS CONSIDERED AN OPEN-GROUP SURF LESSON?

Our open-group surf lesson ranges from 2 persons to large groups. Participants must be 13 years of age or older.

The student to instructor ratio which is normally at 1 student to four instructors, is determined by our qualified instructors subject to wave conditions, the weather, and number of students to ensure a safe surfing experience.

WHAT IS CONSIDERED A PRIVATE-GROUP SURF LESSON?

Our Private Group lesson is exclusively formatted for smaller groups of family members and friends who want to do a surf lesson as well as share in the fun of riding the waves together without other participants.

With more attention from our highly trained instructors, family and friends can be sure of conveniently riding more waves, learning about more surf etiquette on which waves to choose as well as much more.

Each student must be 13 years of age or older.

WHAT IS CONSIDERED A PRIVATE SURF LESSON?

Our private surf lesson is formatted for persons who want personalized instructions and a great one-on-one surfing experience to help achieve their surfing goals A private, one-on-one lesson for personalized instruction, customized to help you achieve your surfing goals.

This lesson is most suitable for an individual who;

(A) is a first timer in the water, and wants personalized attention. Or

(B) is experienced and wants to ride on bigger waves. Or

(C) wants personal surf instructions and support from our instructor. Or

(D) is below 13 years old.

IS THERE PARKING AVAILABLE?

Yes, there is sufficient parking available at the Hale Koa Hotel ( although we do not validate) . You can please call (808) 955-0555 for more details on parking rates.

WHAT METHODS OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?

We have the facility to accept payments via cash and all major credit cards (Master, Visa, American Express, Discover or JCB).  

 WHAT’S YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

Full refund with 48 hours notice for rescheduling / cancelation.

WHAT TIME DO SURF LESSONS START?

We schedule daily lessons for nearly two hours in Waikiki at 9am, 11am, 1pm and 3pm.

HOW DEEP IS THE WATER WHERE WE WILL BE SURFING?

The water depth in Waikiki may varies. Most places you will be able to touch the bottom- but you should not touch the bottom. You must know how to swim.

HOW BIG ARE THE WAVES?

Waves heights vary daily and by seasons. Based on statistical averages, the waves vary from 1 foot to 5+ feet high.

ARE YOUR SURF INSTRUCTORS CERTIFIED?

Yes, all our surf instructors are CPR and Lifeguard certified through the American Red cross , and Blue Card certified by the state of Hawaii.

ARE YOU HIRING SURF INSTRUCTORS?

If you are interested and certified to teach in Waikiki, then please feel free to walk up to our club office to fill an application form. All certified applicants will receive equal consideration for hire without reference to race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.
